ULLAS UTSAV 2018 ? CLASSES II-V

DLDAV, Pitampura, organized ULLAS UTSAV, the Annual Cultural Fest for classes II - V.  The Festival of joy which recognizes the uniqueness of every child gave an opportunity to every student of the class to participate in the cultural programme.  Parents were invited to witness the event and encourage their children to be a part of all school activities.  The event not only tapped the talent of the children but also provided exposure, instilled confidence and promoted teamwork and cooperation.  The cultural programme included Orchestra, Saraswati Vandana, Bhangra, Mime and Ballet ? Alladin and the Magic Lamp. Prizes were given away to meritorious students and medals under good reading project and good communication skills.  Guests on the occasion included Mr. Rajiv Khurana, Management Consultant, FIMC, Shri. Mahesh Chopra, Educationist, Dr. M.P. Gupta, Educationist & Social Worker, Mrs. Chitwan Singh, Counselling Psychologist, Fortis Hospital, Dr. Surakshit Goswami, renowned spiritual scholar, members of PTA, Alumni, Parents and former staff members. The guests praised the spectacular performance of children and appreciated the vision and aim of the event.  Principal Mrs. Anita Wadehra congratulated the staff, students and parents for the success of the function.

Aahvaan - Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony
DLDAVMS, Pitampura, celebrated Aahvaan, the Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony 2016-2017. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Dr. Dev Swarup, Joint Secretary, University Grants Commission and was presided by school Chairman Shri. Shrideep Omchery, Vice President, DAVCMC.  Other distinguished guests were Shri. R.S. Sharma, General Secretary, DAVCMC, Shri T.R. Gupta, Vice President, DAVCMC and Vice Chairman of the School, Mrs. Adarsh Kohli, Manager of the school, Principal of DAV Schools and others. The cultural bonanza included Spandan? Welcome song and Orchestra, Jhankar ? Nritya Aaradhna, Abhivyakti ? creative dance (Zenith Wing) and Ballet ? Gyanodaya.  Futurista ? Science Newsletter and An Unprecedented Indian ? a maiden publication by school student Amol Garg of class X were released by the Guests.  Principal Mrs. Anita Wadehra presented the Annual Report which highlighted the achievements of the students and the new initiatives taken by the school.  She thanked the management, parents, staff and students for the progress of the school.   Chief Guest Dr. Dev Swarup congratulated the Principal and staff for the notable accomplishments of the school and its phenomenal role in shaping the destiny of students.  He applauded the efforts of the school in providing excellent infrastructure and facilitating the holistic development of the students. Chairman of the school, Shri Shrideep Omchery conveyed that the school matched global standards in terms of infrastructure, curriculum and achievements. He appreciated the mesmerizing performances of the students in cultural programme.  Prizes were distributed to meritorious students for outstanding performances in the field of academics, co-curriculars and sports. The function ended with National Anthem.

Ramanujan Day Celebration
Students of classes II to VI participated in Ramanujan Day Celebrations as the school held the National Mathematics Day dedicated to the great mathematician. Both outdoor and indoor activities were organized for the students who exhibited great enthusiasm.

ART ACHIEVEMENTS

 DLDAV Model School, Pitampura participated in DAV Model United Nations Conference held at DAV Public School, Sreshtha Vihar. Student delegates from the school represented different countries in different Committees like the UNGA, the UNSC, the AIPPM, the HRC and the IP. They debated on different agendas in Committee simulations and framed resolutions in their respective Committees under the guidance of teacher facilitator Ms. Neeta Chhabra.
As a member of International Press, Prateek Malhotra of class IX F won I Prize as Best Cartoonist and has been awarded with Trophy, a Merit Certificate and cash Prize of Rs. 2000/-. 
Prateek Malhotra and Saatvik Aggarwal of class VIII  won a shield, a cash award of Rs. 2000/-, a bag and stationary for their entries which were selected among top 50 entries out of 2.5 lac submissions in a competition organized by Power Finance Corporation (PFC).
Principal Mrs. Anita Wadehra congratulated Prateek and Saatvik for their outstanding contribution in the field of art and hoped that they would bring more laurels to the school.

NON-VIOLENCE PROJECT INDIA
Ms. Neeta Chhabra of DLDAV Model School, Pitampura attended three day national level program ?Train the Trainers? Program of Non Violence Project India under the aegis of Non Violence Project Foundation (Switzerland) & Global Network of Sustainable Development (GNSD) USA. 

She has been conferred with a Diploma for completing this course and has joined the national group of trainers to carry the program further.

Ten students of classes VIII, IX & X from the school participated in Peace Parliament as part of the project and will be pioneer members of  "Peace Clubs for Sustainability & Sustainability Clubs for Peace" to be initiated in the school. 

Principal Mrs. Anita Wadehra congratulated Ms. Neeta for her achievement and conveyed that the initiative would ensure great benefits to all the stakeholders in education.

MODEL UNITED NATIONS

 Zenith Wing of DLDAV Model School, Pitampura organized Model United Nations - A simulation of the UN wherein students delegating different countries debated on different global issues. Students of different classes debated on topics like - ??Swachch Bharat Abhiyan, how far are we associated??, ??Should production of Diesel Cars be abolished??? and  over different goals of Sustainable Development by the United Nations. These presentations were witnessed by the parents of respective classes as they were broadcast live on youtube, not just for the parents to watch. They also gathered huge audience from elsewhere, as the links were posted on school website and facebook.  Students of Class 8, had a live video Conferencing with Mr. Ezzat Hassan, member of TOEFL Organisation, Cairo, Egypt as the Guest Speaker on the 10th Goal of sustainable development, i.e ??Reducing Inequality within and among Nations??. Principal Mrs. Anita Wadehra congratulated the Incharge and Staff of Zenith Wing for the success of the event which she believed would stimulate an environment where children would be more aware, more sensitive and approachable, and become more responsible citizens. It would also lead to enhancement of debating skills and self-confidence in the students.

TRIUMPH- A VENTURE OF EXPRESSIONS

Triumph- A Venture of Expressions, was organized by Zenith wing of DLDAV Model School, Pitampura in association with Helen O Grady International,  a program designed for students  to enhance communication and conversational skills, promote social skills, stimulate creativity and concentration, provide a platform for success in performing arts and add to confidence and self-esteem of the child. The guests on the occasion were Dr. Sanjeev Nandan Prasad, Associate Professor at Department of English, Hansraj College, University of Delhi and School Manager, Mrs. Kohli. 

Triumph- showcased Speech and drama presentations of students of classes III - VIII of Zenith wing and classes VII & VIII. Ms. Sakshi from Helen O Grady gave a welcome address and an epilogue on their approach. The presentations included - Mime to Music, Verbal Dynamics- Television, Improvisation - Right to Equality, Fashion Shoot, Dance Drama- Villagers & Tyrants, Verbal Dynamics- TV Talk, Dance Drama- the Hunt and Improvisation- Each One Teach One. Chief Guest Dr. Prasad appreciated the efforts of the school in promoting language skills and building confidence of students. Principal Mrs. Anita Wadehra congratulated the Helen O Grady instructors and the school staff for the excellent coordination and mesmerizing performance of students.

SPECTRUM 2017
DLDAV Model School, Pitampura organized Spectrum 2017, an Inter House Annual Cultural event for class XI.  Students participated in an array of activities like solo song, satire, collage making and live presentation on current topics ? Bully Free Zone, Save Rivers India?s Lifeline, Rule breakers on Road, Our Monuments Our Pride and others.  Mrs. Anita Wadehra congratulated the students and conveyed that the event aimed to instill a sense of belongingness to the House and promote team work and sportsmanship.

MODEL UNITED NATIONS

CHEMISTRY WORKSHOP
DLDAV Model School, Pitampura organized a workshop in Chemistry for students of classes XI & XII.  Mr. R.P. Manchanda, Retired Principal and Author of Together with Chemistry was the resource person.  He discussed with the student methods that could help them to score good marks in the Board Exams and suggested easy methods to solve tough questions.  Students found the talk very informative, interesting and useful.  Students who took part in the discussion and answered questions were given books by Rachna Sagar Publication as incentives. Principal Mrs. Anita Wadehra urged the students to follow the guidelines of the resource person to successfully crack the Boards.
