TALENTICA 2016
Darbari Lal DAV Model School, Pitampura organized Talentica a talent hunt extravaganza for students of classes II to V.  The event aimed to explore and tap the hidden talent of children and give them a platform to display it. The various competitions held under the banner were cooking, dance, singing, wealth out of waste, mono acting, poem recitation and paper folding.  There was a whole hearted participation of students who impressed the judges by their amazing performances.  Principal Mrs. Anita Wadehra expressed satisfaction that the event manifested the school philosophy ?each child is unique.?

Language Lab Inaugurated
Darbari Lal DAV Model School, ND Block, Pitampura believes in activity based learning which is integrated in the curriculum.  Stress is laid on enhancement of communication skills.  A feather in the cap was added with the inauguration of the Language Lab by the school Chairman Shri Shrideep Omchery, Vice President, DAVCMC. The multimedia, digital and computerized language lab with audio-video techniques will help gain proficiency in the language and effortlessly improve the LSRW (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing) skills of the children. Shri Omchery congratulated the school principal for facilitating quality infrastructure for the holistic development of students.  Principal Mrs. Anita Wadehra, expressed hope that the lab would serve as a catalyst to churn out students with excellent communication skills, confidence and conviction.

EXPO 2016 ORGANISED
School organized Annual Exhibition EXPO 2016 on the themes of International year of Pulses 2016, Sustaining India ? Vision 2030 and India ? Uninterrupted.  The Exhibition was inaugurated by ShriShrideepOmchery, Vice President, DAVCMC and Chairman of the School.  Other distinguished guests included Dr. AbhijeetKar, Sr. Scientist, ICAR, Dr. S.P. Dutta, Principal Scientist, SS & AC, IARI, Prof. Dinesh Kumar, Faculty, Department of Education, Head Publication Department, NCERT, Mr.  Ankur  Gupta, Managing Director, Orange Education, Mr. VarunMalhotra, Country Head, Orange Education and Shri. S.C. Gupta, Manager.

A kaleidoscope of students? talent, creativity, innovation and knowledge, EXPO 2016 also gave wings to the dreams of students.  Besides enchanting displays, mesmerizing performances, captivating presentations, students impressed the guests with their vast awareness and sense of responsibility towards the planet.  The highlights of the event were activities and projects by different classes and  school Clubs like Scientia, Cyberite, Mathemagica, Robotronics, Rhetorics and others.  Chief Guest ShriOmchery congratulated the Principal, Staff and Students for the amazing experience and the excellent display of teamwork and skills.  He expressed confidence that students of the school would lead an active life with responsibility and competence in future.

Principal Mrs. Anita Wadehra conveyed that EXPO 2-16 would inculcate values, enrich education and lead students to lifelong learning.

Kite Flying Contest
Students of class XII  participated in a Kite Flying Competition organized in the school on the occasion Independence Day.  The class wise activity drew an overwhelming response of the students who brought and decorated colourful kites for the event.  Principal Mrs. Anita Wadehra declared the event open.  She urged the students to rise above petty prejudices and explore the limitless sky like the kites.  The competition was judged on the basis of the height of the kites flown, the number of kites cut and for the creative and innovative kites.

Praestantia 2016
Praestantia 2016,  An array of Inter school Competitions, was organized for CBSEi schools on 5 August 2016, with its main venture being online competition through video conferencing. With a participation of 17 schools all over India, this competition was the first of its kind and was telecasted live on You Tube.

CROSSROADS 2016
D.L. DAV Model School, Pitampura organized CROSSROADS 2016, an array of Interschool competitions, related to different subjects with the aim of fostering creativity and innovation, honing interpersonal skills and exploring talent.  Nearly 1300 students from 50 schools participated in 14 events.  The competitions included Innova attire, Voc Trove, Sci-Infotainment, Robotask, Resonance Artefact, Bridge, Samvaad Pratiyogita, Pageant Libellus, M Quest, Health Domain, and Biznomics.

The competitions were judged by a panel of eminent jury members from different walks of life.  Principal Mrs. Anita Wadehra congratulated the participants for their overwhelming response and appreciated their outstanding performances. Crossroads 2016 was a grand success.

Capacity Building Programme For English Teachers of classes III-V of Cluster I
A three days Capacity Building Program was organised for English Teachers of Classes III to X under the aegis of DAVCAE and DAVCMC.  The seminar was attended by around 121 teachers of Cluster I. The focus of the seminar was Lesson Presentation by the participating teachers.  Classwise lessons were presented by teachers of different schools with special emphasis on the use of Bloom?s Texonomy.  The presentations highlighted all the four skills ? reading, listening, speaking and writing. The three days seminar turned out to be an excellent learning experience for all the teachers. It gave a wonderful platform to teachers to share experiences and bond with each other.

Thalassemia
The Interact Club of the school organised a Talk on Thalassemia for all the students of class XII.  Dr. V.K. Khanna from Ganga Ram Hospital gave an Awareness Talk to the students and motivated them to get themselves tested for Thalassimia as it is PREVENTABLE.  Test for Thalassimia was conducted in support with Rotary Blood Bank Tughlakabad at a very nominal cost of Rs. 100 per student.  The test was conducted only after getting written consent from the parents. The camp was a great success as 123 students were tested.

REJUVENATION AND FELICITATION

Darbari Lal DAV Model School, Pitampura organized Rejuvenation ? Motivational Address for teachers and Felicitation Ceremony of class XII students by school Chairman Shri Shrideep Omchery.  The occasion was marked by a Kathak recital by Ashutosh of class XII, a prayer song by the music department and a poem recital by Vaibhav of class XI.  In his address to the teachers and students, Mr. Omchery congratulated them on their success in Board examination and school endeavours.  He urged the teachers to prepare themselves to take up stringent challenges and to avail opportunities as they come.  He hoped that they would not become complacent with the accomplishments but move ahead to scale greater heights.  He then awarded students for excelling in class XII CBSE Board Examination.  Principal Mrs. Anita Wadehra expressed gratitude to Chairman Sir for being a beacon of light and inspiration for everybody in the school.

SELF DEFENCE CAMP

Darbari Lal DAV Model School, Pitampura organized a Self Defence Camp for girls in collaboration with Delhi Police.  A number of 377 girls between the age group of 6 to 60 years participated in the 15 days camp held in the school.  The event was conducted by 15 trainees of Delhi Police under the guidance of Inspector Ms. Anuradha.  The camp was inaugurated by Sh. Shrideep Omchery, Vice President DAVCMC and Chairman of the school.  Sh. Omchery congratulated the participants for shedding inhibitions and acquiring skills to protect themselves through Self Defence techniques.  He appreciated the school?s role in encouraging girls to learn to defend themselves in times of danger.  The valedictory ceremony was attended by DCP Ms. Varsha Sharma, SHO Mr. Ramesh and Inspector Ms. Anuradha.  Principal Mrs. Anita Wadehra congratulated teacher coordinators Ms. Anshu and Ms. Pushpa on the success of the camp.
