Students visit Sweden as participants of Life Link International Schools Conference 2018
A Team of 7 Students  and 1 teacher from our school were fortunate to participate in the 20th Life-Link International School Conference, which was scheduled  from 16-21 June 2018 at Sigtuna, Sweden. 12 schools from 6 countries namely Egypt, India, Russia, Iran, Sweden and Lebanon participated in the Conference that  focused on a few of the many challenges that the world faces, as formulated in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG:s) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.The main theme was Peace and Nuclear Threat and a taste of the real world with a live UN climate role play.

The conference was held in Sigtunaskolan Humanistiska Läroverket (SSHL) in Sigtuna, which was one of the biggest and renowned Boarding School of Sweden.
Life-Link Friendship-Schools is an independent Non Governmental Organisation with international contacts in more than 60 countries worldwide and aims to promote contact and cooperation between young people around the world and their schools, through active participation in shared projects, vital for our time (e.g. Environment, Human Rights, Conflict Resolution and Constructive Collaboration).

The goals of the programme are to discuss the future and the possibility of world peace, the issue of nuclear threat and its impact on the world and climate, to participate in the UN climate role play, to show one?s schools work within the areas: Care for yourself, Care for Others and Care for Nature, get new contacts from around the world that could last a lifetime, get other schools perspectives and ideas during various discussion held during the conference.

Principal, Mrs. Anita Wadehra, visited Copenhagen and Sweden under SDG project of UNO and Danish Water Forum Denmark. She was among a delegation of five principals selected from Delhi NCR for the project.

Students of Astronomy class of D.L. DAV Model School, Pitampura had an evening rendezvous with the sky.  Resource person Mr. Abhinav spoke on the types and uses of telescopes in Astronomy.  He also discussed limitations and modifications in the field of telescopes.  Thereafter students were taken out for moon watch.  Students week shown the various constellations visible in the sky and they focused on different stars in the sky.  Parents were also invited for the activity.  Principal Mrs. Wadehra appreciated the efforts of the Resource Person and the team for arranging an enriching session.

D.L. DAV Model School, Pitampura observed a Cyber Security Week to create awareness on the issue of cyber harm and how to be safe while browsing the internet.  The social responsibility team of which included Mr. Anurag Prasad and Mr. Surjeet Singh, Telenor India conducted a Webwise workshop for students of classes IX to XII on cyber safety. Different activities like poster making and show and tell competitions were also organized for junior classes. Principal Mrs. Anita Wadehra congratulated the resource persons for their excellent conduction of the workshop and the tips given to students.

DLDAV Model School Pitampura hosted a one day seminar on School Enterprise Challenge, an international competition organised by NGO ?Teach a Man to Fish?for the teachers from reputed DAV Institutions.Ms Sally Ann Walker, the Program Manager of school Enterprise Challenge from UK enriched the participating teachers with her valuable guidance for an effective and dynamic execution of the School Enterprise. Ms.Rashmi Kathuria the Lead Teacher of Udaan KHMS shared the success journey of their business enterprise ?Udaan?.
Aastha Chaudhary, the School Student Business Head of SAMBHAAV, of DLDAV Model School Pitampura gave a presentation on the journey of SAMBHAAV since it joined the Program in 2015.The team expressed gratitude to Principal Anita Wadehra Ma?am for her mentor-ship and support and for being the constant support and motivation.

DLDAV, Pitampura, held the Investiture Ceremony to swear in the  Student Council members and Prefectorial Board 2018-2019.  The House Flags handed to the Principal by House Teachers were received by the newly appointed House Prefects. Senior Head Boy Eshan Aggarwal received the school flag along with Head Girl Ria Goel, Deputy Head Girl Srishti Chaudhary, Deputy Head Boy Prateek Kumar Dutta and other Council members.  All these students pledged to uphold the tradition and values of the institution and perform their duties with sincerity and dedication. Investiture Ceremony was also organized at sub junior, junior and sub senior levels. Principal Mrs. Anita Wadehra congratulated the students and expressed hope that hand in hand the Council and Prefectorial Board would help maintain discipline and cleanliness in school and by their efforts bring honour and glory to the school.  Investiture Ceremony was held for the Middle and Primary school students as well.

Students of class VI of DLDAV Model School, ND Block, Pitampura, participated in a Health March on the theme ?Swatchh Paryavaran Se Hai Swasth Jeevan? on the occasion of Earth Day Celebration.  The flag was marched off by Principal Mrs. Anita Wadehra who urged the students to conserve environment and adopt healthy lifestyles and spread awareness of the same around.  The students displayed slogans, presented a street play and interacted with eminent personalities of the neighbourhood like Sh. MPS Chadha (Jathedar), Member, Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, Sr. Advocate Sh. Subhash Tagra and Social Worker Sh. Mam Chand Jain.  The dignitaries congratulated the students for their efforts in upholding a noble cause.

DLDAV Model School, Pitampura celebrated its 38th Foundation Day to reminiscence and honour its establishment and to reaffirm its pledge of sending forth every student out of the portals equipped with knowledge and character.  Principal Mrs. Anita Wadehra paid rich tributes to Sh. Darbari Lal, Founder and Mrs. S.L. Makhija, Founding Principal, for their vision and foresight in igniting a spark in the children of the school.  The day began with havan for students of class VI followed by Rishi langar for students and staff.  A powerpoint presentation on the school depicting the accomplishments of the school was run in each classroom of the school.

Darbari Lal DAV Model School, Pitampura organized the Interschool ?Know For Sure Britannica Quiz? for students of classes VI to VIII.  More than 130 students participated in the written round.  The top 6 teams clashed for the prizes on the stage. The final round was conducted by eminent Quiz Master Mr. Ajay Poonia.  The guests on the occasion included Mr. Amitava Sen, Associate Vice President, Digital Learning, Mr. Amitabh Atrey, Sr. Regional Manager, Indianica and dignitaries from Britannica. The quiz drew a lot of enthusiasm of the audience who vied with each other for the audience round questions.  The first, second and third prizes were bagged by Venkateshwara International School, Dwarka, Indraprastha International School, Dwarka and Bal Bharti Public School, Rajinder Nagar respectively.  They were awarded latest editions of encyclopedias and dictionaries of the reputed publication.  Principal Mrs. Anita Wadehra congratulated Britannica for the excellent concept and execution of the show. She also appreciated the tireless efforts of teacher Coordinator Mrs. Sarika Sharma, Ms. Neeta Chhabra and others in the success of the programme.
